Why should we work towards a Great Lakes Commons and how ?
We should work towards a Great Lakes Commons in order to increase our understanding of the Lake as a natural place with its own "residents" and ever changing conditions.

Supporting businesses that have worked with connecting children and adults to the Lake for many years through fishing is important in helping to developing an understanding of the Great Lakes Commons because these businesses are often the holders of know-how and historical information that has been passed on for generations over many years in interaction with the Lakes over time.

Park Bait Shop has been in the Greene family for over 60 years, attracting people from all walks of life and sharing fishing traditions across many cultures. The simple building is of historic age, added in the mid-to-late 1940s per the National Register listing documents for Lincoln Park. It is located in Uptown Chicago on the sections of Lincoln Park added via the lakefill in the 1930s that allowed for the extension of Lake Shore Drive north from Montrose to Foster Avenues.
